History and Milestones

Dubai Biotechnology and Research Park (DuBiotech) was conceived by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, as the world’s premier free zone dedicated to life sciences.

Launched in 2005, DuBiotech has rapidly grown into a community of 70 biotechnology, pharmaceutical, laboratory equipments companies and testing laboratories, including global leaders like Pfizer, Amgen, Merck Serono and Genzyme. Many small and medium businesses are also part of the community.

Spread over 22 million square feet, DuBiotech has invested in infrastructure to offer specially tailored facilities that meet all life sciences industry requirements: the world class, 256,000 square foot Nucleotide Laboratory Complex compatible with the most demanding requirements; 25 warehouse facilities for manufacturing and distribution activities; and land available for new manufacturing plants and logistic platforms. In addition, the free zone offers office space in a landmark Bio-Headquarter building and business centres for companies wanting to test the market before extending their commitment in the free zone.

The Nucleotide Laboratory Complex is designed to house biotech, life sciences and pharmaceutical activities ranging from research and development, diagnostic, analytical and equipment training activities. Its core and shell lab space can accommodate up to 160 laboratory units that are designed to meet Class III of Bio-safety Standards/ Guidelines.
