Intake of such medicines can hamper treatment and is particularly dangerous when patients are being treated for serious illness. Counterfeits are not easily distinguishable by the non-expert eye and are now increasingly being found in the Middle East, which prioritises the need to raise awareness and prohibit counterfeits from reaching the counters.
